Refunds, Returns & Exchanges
GC HiFi is currently not accepting or processing new online orders.
The following policy applies to eligible purchases previously made through GC HiFi and should be read together with your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
If a product has a major failure, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement.
If a product has a minor failure, we may choose to repair the product, replace it or provide another appropriate remedy within a reasonable time.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law may continue to apply after any manufacturer’s warranty or other voluntary warranty period has expired.
Change-of-Mind Returns
GC HiFi is not required to provide a refund or exchange where you have simply changed your mind, made an incorrect selection or no longer require the product.
Where GC HiFi agrees, at its discretion, to accept a change-of-mind return for a previous purchase, the product must generally:
-
Be unused and in its original condition
-
Include its original packaging
-
Include all accessories, manuals and supplied components
-
Be accompanied by satisfactory proof of purchase
-
Be suitable for resale as a new product
Acceptance of a change-of-mind return is at the discretion of GC HiFi and does not affect your rights where a product fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law.
Faulty, Damaged or Defective Products
If a product purchased from GC HiFi is faulty, damaged, unsafe, not of acceptable quality or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee, please contact us with details of the issue and proof of purchase.
We may need to inspect, test or otherwise assess the product before determining the appropriate remedy.
Depending on the circumstances and your rights under Australian Consumer Law, the appropriate remedy may include:
-
Repair
-
Replacement
-
Refund
-
Another remedy required by law
The remedy available will depend on factors including the nature and severity of the failure.
Proof of Purchase
We may request reasonable proof that the product was purchased from GC HiFi.
Proof of purchase may include an original receipt, tax invoice, order confirmation, transaction record or another reasonable form of evidence demonstrating the purchase.
Refunds
Where a refund is approved or required under Australian Consumer Law, the refund will generally be made using the original payment method where reasonably practicable.
After a refund has been processed, the time required for funds to appear in your account may depend on your bank, card issuer or payment provider.
Exchanges
Where an exchange or replacement is agreed or required, availability of an identical replacement product may depend on current stock and whether the particular model remains available.
Where an identical replacement is unavailable, we will discuss the appropriate remedy with you in accordance with your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Return Shipping
Responsibility for return shipping costs will depend on the reason for the return.
Where a product has a problem that entitles the consumer to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law, GC HiFi will comply with its obligations regarding reasonable return or transportation costs.
For any discretionary change-of-mind return accepted by GC HiFi, return shipping costs are generally the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed.
Please contact us before returning a product so that appropriate return arrangements can be discussed.
Non-Returnable Items
Certain products may not ordinarily be accepted for a discretionary change-of-mind return, including:
-
Gift cards
-
Downloadable or activated software
-
Products that have been used, damaged or altered after delivery
-
Products missing packaging, accessories or components
-
Special-order or customised products where applicable
These exclusions do not apply where a consumer is entitled to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.
Previous Purchases
Although GC HiFi is currently not accepting or processing new online orders, customers who previously purchased products from GC HiFi continue to have any applicable rights and remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.
The closure or suspension of new online ordering does not, by itself, remove any statutory consumer rights relating to previous purchases.
